죄 없이 태어났습니다
Born Sin-free
“죄로부터 해방되어 의에게 종이 되었느니라”(롬 6:18)
오늘의 본문 구절에서 바울은 언어의 한계로 인해 진리를 전하는데 어려움을 겪었습니다. 그는 말했습니다. “너희 육신이 연약하므로 내가 사람의 예대로 말하노니…”(롬 6:19) 메시지 바이블(MSG)은 이렇게 말합니다. “내가 이처럼 자유를 들어 말하는 것은 쉽게 우리 머릿속에 그림이 그려지기 때문입니다.” 그는 이 진리를 사람들이 이해할 수 있는 수준으로 낮춰서 전해야 했습니다.
새로운 피조물의 실재는 우리가 죄로부터 자유해졌다는 것이 아닙니다. 새로운 피조물은 죄가 없이 태어났습니다. 이 둘은 차이가 있습니다. 죄 없이 태어났다는 것은 당신이 태어날 때 그 어떤 죄도 갖고 있지 않았다는 의미입니다. 당신이 새로운 피조물은 예수 그리스도의 (죽음이 아닌) 부활의 결과라는 것을 깨닫는다면 이것을 더 이해하기 쉽습니다. 당신의 새로운 생명은 예수 그리스도의 부활과 함께 시작되었습니다. “그러므로 우리가 그와 함께 받은 침례에 의하여 죽음 안으로 장사되었으니, 이는 아버지의 영광으로 인하여 그리스도를 죽은 자들로부터 일으키심과 같이 우리도 또한 생명의 새로움 가운데서 행하게 하려 함이니라”(롬 6:4, 한글킹제임스)
고린도후서 5:17은 말합니다. “그런즉 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라…” 이것은 어떠한 죄의 과거가 없이 의 안에서 태어난 새로운 종류의 사람을 말합니다. 그리스도인은 해방될 필요가 없습니다. 우리는 이미 자유인으로 태어났습니다! 그것이 거듭난 사람의 실재입니다. 당신은 죄에서 해방되었습니다. 로마서 6:14이 “죄가 너희를 주장하지 못하리니”라고 말한 것은 당연합니다.
의의 교리를 잘 이해하기 전까지는 죄의 개념을 제대로 이해할 수 없습니다. 따라서 성경에서 “너희가 죄의 종이 되었을 때에는 의에 대하여 자유로웠느니라”(롬 6:20)고 말할 때, “의에 대하여 자유로웠다(free from righteousness)”는 표현은 실제로 “의가 없는” 혹은 “의에 해당되는 것이 없는” 상태였다는 뜻입니다. 다른 말로 하면, 당신은 죄의 종이었으며 의를 행할 수 없었다는 말입니다.
그러나 당신이 거듭났기 때문에 이제는 반대가 되었습니다. 당신은 의를 행할 수 있으며 의의 열매를 맺고 의의 일들을 할 수 있습니다. 그것이 그리스도 안에서 당신의 본성이기 때문입니다. 할렐루야!
고백
나는 새로운 피조물이며 새로운 종류의 사람입니다. 이전 것은 지나갔고 모든 것이 새로워졌습니다. 나는 의 안에서 행하며, 의의 일을 하고, 의의 열매를 맺습니다. 하나님께 영광 드립니다!

BORN SIN-FREE
Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness (Romans 6:18).
Paul had difficulty communicating the truth in the verse above due to the limitation of language. He said in the next verse, “I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh…” (Romans 6:19). The Message translation says, “I’m using this freedom language because it’s easy to picture…” (Romans 6:19 MSG). He had to bring the discussion to a seeming mundane level that they could relate with.
The reality is that the new creation wasn’t “set free” from sin; rather, he was born sin-free; there’s a difference between the two. Born sin-free means you were born without sin. This is easy to understand when you realise that the new creation is the result of the resurrection (not the death) of Jesus Christ. Your new life started with the resurrection of Jesus Christ: “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).
2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…”; a new species or kind of man, born in righteousness with no past of sin to be set free from. In Christianity, we don’t get set free; we’re free-born! That’s the reality for the one who’s born again. You’re sin-free. No wonder Romans 6:14 says, “For sin shall not have dominion over you….” The concept of sin can’t be properly understood until you have a good understanding of the doctrine of righteousness.
So, when the Bible says, “For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness” (Romans 6:20), the expression “free from righteousness” actually means righteousnessfree or you were “righteousness-exempt.” In other words, you were a slave of sin, and couldn’t practise righteousness.
However, now that you’re born again, it’s the reverse; you can practise righteousness and produce fruits and works of righteousness because that’s your nature in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!
CONFESSION
I’m a new creation, a new kind of man; old things are passed away and all things have become new. I walk in righteousness and produce works and fruits of righteousness. Glory to God!
