No “Contrabands”
“너희는 이 세상과 일치하지 말고 너희 생각을 새롭게 함으로써 변화를 받아 하나님의 선하시고, 기뻐하시고, 온전하신 뜻이 무엇인지 입증(prove)하도록 하라”(롬 12:2, 한글킹제임스)
오늘의 본문 구절에 나온 “입증하다”라는 단어의 영어 번역은 바울이 성령으로 말미암아 전달하고자 한 바를 정확하게 표현하지는 못합니다. 이 단어는 헬라어로 “도키마조(dokimazo)”이며, ‘분별하다 혹은 조사한다’는 의미이지만 더 정확한 표현은 ‘면밀히 조사하다’입니다.
이것을 더 잘 이해하기 위해서 모든 국가의 통관 수속지의 세관 업무를 생각해보십시오. 그들은 입국자들을 면밀히 조사해야 할 책임이 있고, 삼엄한 경계 태세를 갖추고 의심스러운 물품들을 분석하기 위해 더욱 정교한 기기들을 사용합니다. 바로 그곳에서 입국 승인 여부를 결정하기 위해 입국자의 자격을 확인합니다. 그것이 성령님이 우리에게 말씀하시는 바입니다. 당신은 당신의 세상에 들어오려는 것들을 “입증하고” 면밀히 조사할 책임이 있습니다! 그리스도 안에 있는 당신의 신성한 본성과 일치하지 않는 것들, 예를 들어 질병, 죽음, 가난, 분노, 비통함, 좌절과 같은 밀수품들이 있습니다. 그러한 것들이 당신의 삶에 들어오도록 허용하지 마십시오.

올해는 그 어느 때보다 당신의 삶과 환경에서 “밀수품”을 허용하지 않기로 결단하십시오. 당신의 몸이나 가족, 직장과 당신 주위에 있는 모든 것에 일어나는 악의 일들을 철저하게 거절하고 금지하십시오. 오직 신성한 실재들 즉 당신의 삶을 향한 하나님의 온전한 뜻에 일치하는 것들만 당신의 삶에 허락하십시오. 당신이 어떤 태도를 취할지 정하지 않는다면 어떤 변화도 없을 것입니다. 당신의 마음을 새롭게 하거나 변화시키는 것으로부터 시작됩니다. 새로워진 마음으로 당신은 삶과 환경 가운데 오직 하나님의 생각들, 그분의 의, 사랑, 친절함, 기쁨, 평안 만을 생각하고 허용하고 표현할 것입니다. 할렐루야!

사랑하는 아버지, 나의 세상에 일어나는 일들을 분별할 능력을 주셔서 감사합니다. 나는 내 삶에서 모든 종류의 불법적인 일들을 허용하지 않습니다. 나는 질병, 가난, 죽음, 상처를 주거나 구속하는 모든 것을 강력하게 거부합니다. 나는 하나님의 생명과 일치하는 것만 내 안에, 내 주위에 있도록 허용합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

NO “CONTRABANDS”
…but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2).
The English translation of the word, “prove” doesn’t give us the best expression of what Paul, by the Spirit, conveys in the theme verse. The Greek word is “dokimazō”; and it means to discern or examine; a more appropriate expression is, “to scrutinize.”
To understand this better, consider the custom service section at the entry port of any country. They’re mandated to scrutinize passengers, and in high alert cases, use more sophisticated machines to provide animated images of suspicious items. Right there, the traveller’s eligibility is ascertained, either for entry or denial into that country. That’s what the Spirit is telling us: you have the responsibility to “prove” or scrutinize what you allow into your world! There’re contrabands— things that aren’t consistent with your divine nature in Christ—like sickness, death, poverty, anger, bitterness, frustration, etc.; don’t allow them into your life.
Remember that the Bible says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23). You’re to consciously mount a garrison, a blockade, over your heart against the negativities of life. It’s your responsibility, and you have the power and authority to do it. Jesus said, “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:19). Keys speak of authority, laws and principles. When you disallow or permit something on earth, heaven gives the authority and backs what you have said.
This year, more than ever, be resolute about not allowing “contrabands” in your life and in your environment. Vehemently refuse the works of evil and forbid them in your body, family, job and around you. Allow only divine realities into your world, things that are consistent with the perfect will of God for your life. If you don’t take a stand, nothing will change; and it begins with the renewing or transformation of your mind. With a renewed mind, you’ll think, permit and express only God’s thoughts, His righteousness, love, kindness, joy and peace in your life, and in your environment. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the power to determine what comes into my world. I disallow every kind of illegal transaction in my life. I vehemently refuse sickness, poverty, death, and everything that hurts and binds. Only things that are consistent with the God-life are permitted in, and around me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
