Our Perfection Is Of Him
“그러므로 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지의 온전하심과 같이 너희도 온전하라”(마 5:48)
어떤 사람들은 “아무도 온전하지 않습니다. 그러므로 자신이 온전하다고 말하지 마십시오.”라고 말합니다. 그들이 왜 그렇게 말하는지 묻는다면, 당신은 그 말이 그 사람의 경험이거나 다른 사람들의 경험의 결과임을 알게 될 것입니다. 성경은 무엇이라고 말합니까? “하늘에 계신 너희 아버지의 온전하심과 같이 너희도 온전하라” 하나님께서는 우리가 결코 할 수 없는 일을 하도록 요구하지 않으십니다. 그분이 이 땅에서 우리의 온전함을 요구하신다면, 그것은 실제로 가능하다는 의미입니다.
성경을 공부해보면 말씀 어디에도 우리에게 온전함이 불가능하다고 말하는 구절이 없습니다. 그분에 관한 모든 것은 완벽함과 탁월함을 요합니다. 대부분의 사람들이 온전함을 가능하다고 생각하지 않는 이유는 온전함이 무엇인지 모르기 때문입니다. ‘온전함’이란 ‘성공’처럼 당신의 삶의 단계마다 직면하는 목표, 의도, 목적에 따라 다르게 평가되기도 하고, 당신의 부르심에 대한 방향과 지식에 따라 측정되기도 합니다.
오늘의 본문 구절에서 읽은 “온전하다”라는 단어는 “텔레이오스”라는 헬라어에서 비롯되었고, ‘완전히 자란, 허물이 없는, 흠이 없는, 어떤 것도 바라지 않는’이라는 뜻이며 곧 완전성입니다. 이는 하나님의 심령으로 당신의 심령을 판단하는 것이며 이것을 행하는 방법은 말씀을 통해서입니다. 또한 하나님께서 당신에게 시키신 대로 행하고, 당신의 심령을 하나님의 심령과 같아지게 만드는 것을 의미합니다. 당신은 하나님의 심령을 가졌기 때문에 그분처럼 생각하고, 사랑하고, 용서합니다.
많은 사람들이 온전하게 될 수 없다고 믿는 또 다른 이유는 그들이 종교적인 생각으로 판단하기 때문입니다. 이것에 대해 생각해 보십시오. 우리가 그리스도 예수 안에서 그분의 생명과 은혜와 의에 동참할 수 있는 자격을 받았다면, 우리의 온전함 역시 그분께 있습니다. 예수님은 완벽한 분이셨고 성경은 그분이 죽음까지도 하나님께 순종했다고 말씀합니다. 그분은 하나님께 자격을 갖춘 분이었으며 그 자격을 우리에게 주셨습니다.
그러므로 의와 온전함에 대한 우리의 자격은 그분으로부터 나온 것입니다. 그분이 보시기에 온전하기 위해서는 그분의 자격을 받아들이고 선언해야 합니다. 그분의 대속적인 죽음은 당신을 온전하게 만들고 그분이 보시기에 거룩하고, 흠이 없고, 책망할 것이 없는 자가 되게 하기 위함이었습니다(골 1:22). 이제, 이에 합당하게 살아가십시오.

하늘에 계신 아버지, 당신이 보시기에 완전하고, 의롭고, 거룩하며, 흠이 없고, 책망할 것이 없는 자가 되도록 자격을 주셔서 감사드립니다. 나는 내 안에 역사하고 계신 온전함과 탁월함의 성령님께 나를 내어드립니다. 그러므로 나의 말과 생각과 행동은 흠이 없습니다. 나는 당신의 비할 데 없는 이름에 대한 영광과 찬미를 생각하고, 말하고, 탁월함을 나타냅니다. 할렐루야!

OUR PERFECTION IS OF HIM
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48).
You might have heard some people say, “No one is perfect; so don’t say you’re perfect.” Ask them why they say that, and you’d discover it’s the result of their own experiences or other people’s experiences. What does the Bible say? It says, “Be ye perfect even as your heavenly Father is perfect.” God will never ask us to do something He knows we couldn’t do. If He demands perfection of us in the earth, it means it’s possible.
When you study the Word, there’s no place that suggests to us the impossibility of perfection. Everything about God calls for perfection—excellence. The reason most people don’t think perfection is possible is that they don’t know what perfection is. Perfection is like success, which can be measured at different stages of your life, according to the set objectives, purpose, and goal. Perfection is measured according to the light, instruction or information that you have with respect to the underlying objectives. In our opening verse, the word “perfect” derives from the Greek word “teleios” which is full-grown in maturity, blameless, unspotted; wanting nothing; a completeness. It refers to measuring your heart with the heart of God; and the way to do this is through the Word. This means that you do things as God would have you do them; you let your heart be like God’s.
You think, love, and forgive as God does, because you have His heart.
Furthermore, another reason many believe perfection is unachievable is that they use their religious minds to judge or measure what it is. Think about it: if in Christ Jesus, we’ve been qualified to become sharers and partakers of His life, His grace, and His righteousness, it means our perfection is also of Him. Jesus was the perfect One; the Bible says He obeyed God even unto death. He qualified before God and gave us His qualification.
So, our qualification for righteousness and perfection is of Him. All you have to do to be perfect in His sight is to accept and affirm His qualification. His vicarious death was to make you perfect: present you holy, unblameable and unreproveable in His sight (Colossians 1:22). Now, live accordingly.
PRAYER
Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for qualifying me to be perfect,
righteous, holy, unblameable and unreproveable in your sight. I’m yielded to the Spirit of perfection and excellence that’s at work in me. Therefore, my words, thoughts, and actions are detailed and flawless. I think, talk, and exude excellence, to the glory and praise of your matchless Name. Hallelujah!
