역사하는 기도
THE PRAYER THAT WORKS
“또 기도할 때에 이방인과 같이 중언부언하지 말라 그들은 말을 많이 하여야 들으실 줄 생각하느니라”(마 6:7)
때때로 “강력한 기도가 제게 필요합니다. 제발 저를 위해 강력하게 기도해 주세요”라고 말하는 그리스도인을 만납니다. 그런데 강력한 기도라는 것이 무엇입니까? 무엇이 기도를 강력하게 만들어 줍니까? 큰 소리로 기도하는 건가요? 아니면 종교적인 말들을 내뱉기 때문인가요? 당신에게 필요한 것은 “강력한” 기도가 아니라 전능하신 하나님께 드리는 단순한 기도입니다.
주 예수님은 오늘의 본문 구절에서, 기도할 때 헛되고 반복적인 말들을 사용하는 이방인들처럼 되지 말라고 하셨습니다. 그들은 말을 많이 한 것을 신이 듣게 될 것이라고 잘못 생각합니다. 그렇지 않습니다. 예수님은 우리가 그처럼 기도해서는 안 된다고 말씀하셨습니다. 그분의 말씀을 읽어보십시오. “그러므로 그들을 본받지 말라 구하기 전에 너희에게 있어야 할 것을 하나님 너희 아버지께서 아시느니라”(마 6:8)
예수님처럼 기도하는 법을 배우십시오. 그분은 단순하게 기도하고 행동하셨습니다. 예수님이 나사로의 무덤에서 했던 단순한 기도를 생각해보십시오. 성경은 이렇게 말씀합니다. “…예수께서 눈을 들어 우러러 보시고 이르시되 아버지여 내 말을 들으신 것을 감사하나이다 항상 내 말을 들으시는 줄을 내가 알았나이다 그러나 이 말씀 하옵는 것은 둘러선 무리를 위함이니 곧 아버지께서 나를 보내신 것을 그들로 믿게 하려 함이니이다 이 말씀을 하시고 큰 소리로 나사로야 나오라 부르시니”(요 11:41-43)
기도를 역사하게 하는 것은 믿음이지 많은 말이 아닙니다. 예수님은 마가복음 11:23에서 이 부분을 아주 분명하게 말씀하셨습니다. “내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 누구든지 이 산더러 들리어 바다에 던져지라 하며 그 말하는 것이 이루어질 줄 믿고 마음에 의심하지 않으면 그대로 되리라” 그러므로 단순하게 기도하십시오. 믿음으로 기도하며 쓸데없는 반복적인 말들을 피하십시오.
사실 이것이 바로 방언을 하는 가장 중요한 이유입니다. 당신이 다른 방언으로 기도할 때에는 성령에 의해 당신의 영이 기도하고 있으며, 하나님의 뜻을 따라 기도하고 있습니다. 그것이 그리스도인으로서 당신이 가장 먼저 해야 하는 기도 방식입니다. 먼저 영으로 기도하십시오. 즉 지각으로 기도하기 전 곧 당신이 하는 이 땅의 언어로 기도하기 전에 먼저 방언으로 말하십시오.
기도
제 믿음은 효력이 있음을 선포합니다. 그러므로 저는 성령의 능력과 말씀으로 제 삶과 상황에 필요한 변화를 일으킵니다. 주 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking (Matthew 6:7).
Sometimes, you find Christians who say, “I need powerful prayers; so please, pray a powerful prayer for me.” But what’s a powerful prayer anyway? What makes a prayer powerful? Is it the loudness of the voice of the one praying, or is it because they’re speaking religious words? Well, what you need isn’t a “powerful” prayer, but a simple prayer to a powerful God.
The Lord Jesus, in our opening verse, said that when you pray, you shouldn’t act like the heathen who use vain, repetitive words. They erroneously think they’ll be heard for their much speaking; Jesus said we shouldn’t pray like that. Read His words: “Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him”(Matthew 6:8).
Learn to pray like Jesus; He prayed and acted simply. Imagine the simple way He prayed at the tomb of Lazarus. The Bible says, “…And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth” (John 11:41-43).
What makes prayer work is faith, and not the multitude or multiplicity of words. Jesus made this very clear in Mark 11:24: “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Therefore, make your prayers simple; pray with faith, and avoid vain repetitions.
When you pray in other tongues, your spirit, by the Holy Spirit, prays according to the will of God. That’s primarily the way you ought to pray as a Christian: pray with the spirit first; that is, in tongues, before you pray with your understanding, your natural earthly language.
“What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also” (1 Corinthians 14:15).
PRAYER
I declare that my faith is effectual. Therefore, I effect necessary changes in my life and circumstances by the power of the Holy Spirit and with the Word, in the Name of the Lord Jesus. Amen.
