“이와 같이” 너희 빛을 비치게 하라
Let Your Light “So” Shine
“이같이 너희 빛이 사람 앞에 비치게 하여 그들로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라”(마 5:16)
주님이 “너희 빛이 사람 앞에 비치게 하라”고만 말씀하셨더라도, 그 나름대로 아름다운 일이었을 것이지만 그분은 부사인 “이와 같이”를 덧붙임으로써 그 강도를 한층 강조하셨습니다. 그분은 당신이 강렬한 빛으로 비추기를 원하십니다. 그분은 사람들이 당신의 착한 행실을 보고 하늘 아버지께 영광을 돌리기를 원하십니다. 그분이 “내가 이와 같이 너희의 빛을 비치게 하리라”고 말씀하지 않으셨다는 사실에 주목하십시오. 그렇게 해야 할 당사자는 바로 당신입니다!
구약의 선지자들도 하나님이 당신의 빛을 비치게 하실 장본인이시라고 암시한 적이 없습니다. 이사야 선지자는 이렇게 말했습니다. “일어나라 빛을 발하라 이는 네 빛이 이르렀고 여호와의 영광이 네 위에 임하였음이니라”(사 60:1) 당신이 바로 일어나 빛을 발해야 할 장본인입니다! 이 구절은 우리가 로마서 12:10-11(AMP)에서 읽은 것과 같습니다. “…열정과 진심어린 수고에서 뒤떨어지지 말고 환히 빛을 내며 영으로 타올라서 주님을 섬기라”
다시 말하지만, 우리는 당신의 열정이 환한 빛을 내도록 부채질해야 할 책임이 당신에게 있음을 압니다. 하나님은 당신에게 당신이 무엇을 할 수 있는지를 알려주고 계십니다. 당신이 환히 빛을 발하고 영으로 타오를 수 없었다면, 하나님은 당신에게 그렇게 하라고 요구하지 않으셨을 것입니다. 그분은 당신에게 그렇게 할 수 있는 힘과 능력을 주셨기 때문에 그렇게 하라고 당신에게 말씀하고 계십니다.
예수님은 마태복음 5:14에서 “너희는 세상의 빛이라”고 말씀하셨습니다. 이에 대한 당신의 반응은 이래야 합니다. “그렇습니다. 주님, 저는 어두운 세상의 빛이므로 제 빛은 어느 곳에서나 빛을 발합니다!” 말씀대로 행동하십시오! 하나님이 당신의 심령에 두신 생각대로 행동하여 하나님의 비전이 이루어지게 하십시오! 게으르지 마십시오. 주변 사람들의 삶에 영향을 주어 향상시키는 일을 하십시오.
예를 들어 당신이 학생이라면 학문계에 영광스러운 복음의 빛을 비추십시오! 당신이 사업가나 경찰이나 군인이나 정치가나 패션 디자이너나 변호사나 운동선수라면 그런 세상에 영향을 끼치십시오! 당신의 환경을 바꾸십시오. 당신의 빛을 통해 다른 이들이 보게 될 것이고 그들의 삶이 향상될 것입니다. 그들은 어둠과 혼란과 가난과 질병과 죽음에서 빠져나오게 될 것입니다. 당신의 세상에 영향을 끼치십시오. 복음으로 충격을 가하십시오.
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 저를 세상에서 복이 되고 어두운 세상에 빛이 되어 복음으로 많은 사람들의 삶에 축복과 깨달음과 의미를 가져다줄 수 있는 특별한 특권을 주시니 감사드립니다. 저의 빛은 아주 밝게 비춰서 아버지의 영광이 제 안에서 그리고 저를 통해 드러납니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

LET YOUR LIGHT “SO” SHINE
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:16).
If the Master had only said, “Let your light shine before men…,” that would have been beautiful, but He emphasized the intensity by including the adverb, “so.” He wants you to shine with blazing intensity. He wants men to see your good works and glorify your heavenly Father. Also notice that He didn’t say, “I’m going to make your light so shine”; rather, you’re the one to make it happen! Even Prophet Isaiah didn’t allude that God is the one to make your light shine”; he said, “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee” (Isaiah 60:1). You’re the one to arise, and shine! It’s like what we read in Romans 12:11 (AMPC): “Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.” What a counsel! Again, we observe that the responsibility is yours to fan your zeal aglow. God is telling you what you can do. If you couldn’t be aglow and burning with the Spirit, He wouldn’t ask you to do it. He’s telling you to do it because He’s given you the power, the ability, to do it. Jesus said in Matthew 5:14, “Ye are the light of the world….” Your response should be, “Yes, Lord, I’m a light in a dark world, and my light shines everywhere.” Act on the Word. Act on that idea God has placed in your heart, and bring God’s vision to pass! Get busy. Do something that’ll impact and improve the lives of those around you. If you’re a student for example, beam the light of the glorious Gospel in the academic world! If you’re a businessman, a policeman, a soldier, a politician, a fashion designer, a lawyer or an athlete, impact your world! Change your environment. Through your light, others will see; their lives will be improved; they’d be plucked out of darkness, confusion, poverty, sickness and death. Make a difference in your world by making impact with the Gospel.
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the special privilege to be a blessing to my world, a light in a dark world, bringing blessings, illumination and meaning to the lives of many with the Gospel. My light shines so brightly, causing your glory to be revealed in, and through me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
