예수님이 생명이십니다

JESUS IS THE LIFE

“예수께서 이르시되 내가 곧 길이요 진리요 생명이니…”(요 14:6)

생명의 기원은 과학의 가장 복잡한 난제 중 하나입니다. 그 누구도 생명을 창조한 적이 없습니다. 그 누구도 생명의 근원이나 본질이 무엇인지 알지 못합니다. 하지만 요한일서 1:2은 매우 심오한 내용을 우리에게 알려줍니다. “…생명이 나타내신 바 된지라 이 영원한 생명을 우리가 보았고…”

이는 곧 생명이 무(無)에서 나와 우리에게 나타났음을 의미합니다. 이 일이 어떻게 가능합니까? 요한과 당시 사람들은 무엇을 보았기에 그것을 생명이라고 불렀습니까? 바로 예수님 입니다! 그분은 생명의 의인화된 모습입니다. 할렐루야! 어떤 사람이나 사물이 당신에게 “나는 생명이다. 너는 나로 인해 존재한다”고 말한다고 상상해보십시오. 당신은 그것을 어떻게 받아들이겠습니까?

그런데 그 일이 일어난 것입니다. 이것이 바로 우리가 오늘의 본문 구절에서 읽은 내용입니다. 예수님은 말씀하셨습니다. “나는 길이요, 진리요, 생명이니…” 정말 대단한 선포입니다! 감히 누가 그런 말을 할 수 있겠습니까? 예수님은 자신의 주장을 증명하셨습니다. 나사로라 하는 사람이 죽어 장사를 지낸 지 나흘이 되었고, 사람들이 예수님을 찾아왔습니다. 예수님은 그곳에 도착하셔서 나사로의 누이인 마르다에게 말씀하셨습니다. “나는 부활이요 생명이니 나를 믿는 자는 죽어도 살겠고”(요11:25).

잠시 후, 예수님은 나사로의 무덤 곁에 서서 “큰 소리로 나사로야 나오라”(요11:43)고 하셨습니다. 모인 사람들이 당황하는 중에 나사로가 다시 살아났습니다! 할렐루야! 나사로는 예수님이 처음 살린 사람이 아니었습니다. 그분은 나인에서 과부의 아들을 살리셨고(눅 7:11-17), 야이로의 딸을 살리셨습니다(눅 8:41-56). 할렐루야!

예수님은 부활이시며 생명이십니다. 하나님은 그분이 예수님께 주신 모든 사람에게 영생을 주기 위해 모든 육체에 대한 권세를 예수님에게 주셨습니다(요17:2). 이는 그분이 오셔서 하신 모든 일을 포함하는데 그중에서도 예수님이 오신 가장 중요한 이유는 우리에게 생명을 주시는 것입니다. 당신은 거듭났을 때 그 생명을 받고 신성에 참여하는 자가 되었습니다. 요한일서 5:11-12은 말합니다. “…이 생명이 그의 아들 안에 있는 그것이니라 아들이 있는 자에게는 생명이 있고 하나님의 아들이 없는 자에게는 생명이 없느니라.” 하나님께 영광 드립니다!

고백

나는 거듭났기 때문에 내 안에 하나님의 생명과 본성이 있습니다. 이 하나님의 생명은 나를 천하무적으로 만들고, 내가 언제나 승리, 영광, 다스림, 탁월함 가운데 살게 합니다. 예수 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘!

JESUS IS THE LIFE

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life…”(John 14:6).

Knowing the origin of life is one of science’s most perplexing mysteries. No one has ever created life. The very source or substance of life hasn’t been known to man. But 1 John 1:2 tells us something so profound; it says, “…life was manifested, and we have seen it….”

This means life came out of obscurity and was shown to us. How? Who or what did John and the people of his day see that they called life? It was Jesus! He is life personified. Hallelujah! Imagine that you saw someone or something that says to you, “I’m life; I’m responsible for your existence.” What would you think?

Well, it happened. That’s what we read in our theme verse. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life….” That’s an amazing declaration! Who could ever dare say such a thing? Well, Jesus proved His claim: A man named Lazarus was dead and buried for four days, and they sent for Jesus. When Jesus got there, He said to Martha, Lazarus’ sister, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” (John 11:25).

Moments later, Jesus stood by the grave of Lazarus and “cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth” (John 11:43). To the utter bewilderment of the people gathered, Lazarus came back to life! Hallelujah! That wasn’t the first person He would raise from the dead. He had raised the widow’s son at Nain (Luke 7:11-17), and Jairus’ daughter (Luke 8:41-56). Hallelujah!

Jesus is the resurrection and the life. God gave Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as God has given Him (John 17:2). This covers everything that He came to do; it’s the biggest of them all: He came to give us life. You received that life and became a partaker of the divine nature when you were born again. 1 John 5:11-12 says, “… this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” Glory to God!

CONFESSION

I have the very life and nature of God in me, because I’m born again. This God-life makes me impregnable, causing me to walk in victory, glory, dominion, and excellence always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
