“내가 주의 성전을 향하여 예배하며 주의 인자하심과 성실하심으로 말미암아 주의 이름에 감사하오리니 이는 주께서 주의 말씀을 주의 모든 이름보다 높게 하셨음이라”(시 138:2)
구약에서 하나님은 이스라엘 백성들에게 다양한 이름으로 자신을 나타내셨습니다. 이스라엘 백성들은 대대로 하나님을 여러 이름으로 인식했습니다. 그 이름들이 그분의 성품을 묘사하거나 나타냈기 때문입니다. 예를 들어, 여호와 닛시(나의 깃발), 여호와 라아(나의 목자), 여호와 라파(치료자), 여호와 체바오트(만군의 하나님)와 같은 이름들입니다.
그러나 오늘의 본문 구절은 그분이 말씀을 주의 모든 이름 위에 크게 하셨다고 말합니다. 당신이 그분을 엘샤다이, 아도나이, 여호와 라파, 혹은 여호와 이레 중 무엇으로 알았든지 상관없이 그분은 말씀을 모든 이름 위에 크게 하셨습니다.
그 이름들에 대한 계시는 제한적이었고 말씀 안에 감싸져 있었습니다. 당신이 하나님의 말씀을 안다면, 하나님을 엘샤다이, 여호와 라파, 혹은 구약에 나오는 그분의 이름들에 대한 계시를 아는 사람을 능가하게 될 것입니다. 요한복음 1:1은 말합니다. “태초에 말씀이 계시니라 이 말씀이 하나님과 함께 계셨으니 이 말씀은 곧 하나님이시니라.” 이는 하나님의 이름들에 관한 계시보다 말씀이 높다는 것을 의미합니다.
이제 당신은 하나님의 히브리어 이름들이 필요하지 않습니다. 마지막으로 계시된 이름은 여호와 삼마 곧 ‘여호와께서 거기 계시다’ 였습니다. 그후에 그분은 “엠마누엘” 곧 ‘우리와 함께 계시는 하나님’을 나타내셨습니다. 예수님은 그분의 백성들 가운데 계셨습니다. 그러나 그분의 갈망은 우리 안에 계시는 것이었습니다. “하나님이 그들로 하여금 이 비밀의 영광이 이방인 가운데 얼마나 풍성한지를 알게 하려 하심이라 이 비밀은 너희 안에 계신 그리스도시니 곧 영광의 소망이니라”(골 1:27).
너무나도 많은 사람들이 종교 안에 살아가며 이 실재를 받아들이지 못합니다. 그들은 하나님과 어떻게 교제해야 하는지 모릅니다. 기독교는 살아있습니다. 기독교는 성령님의 인격과 능력을 통한 살아 계신 하나님 아버지와 그분의 아들이신 예수님과의 참된 관계입니다. 말씀을 알고 말씀이 역사하게 하십시오. 그러면 당신의 삶에는 축복과 은혜가 끊이지 않을 것입니다.

사랑하는 아버지, 아버지의 말씀을 내 영에 계시해 주셔서 감사합니다. 아버지의 말씀은 내 마음과 삶에 영원히 있습니다. 나는 성공과 승리 안에 삽니다. 내 삶에 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 축복과 은혜가 끝없이 흐릅니다. 아멘.

ALL WRAPPED IN THE WORD
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name (Psalm 138:2).
In the Old Testament, God revealed Himself through various names to the children of Israel.
Generation after generation, they recognized Him with those names, for they depicted or described His character. Examples of such names are Jehovah Nissi (The Lord My Banner), Jehovah Raah (The Lord My Shepherd), Jehovah Rapha (The Lord That Heals), Jehovah Sabaoth (The Lord of Hosts), etc.
However, our theme verse says He’s magnified His Word above all the revelations of His names. Meaning that whether you knew Him as El shadai or as Adonai or as Jehovah Rapha or Jehovah Jireh?whatever you knew Him to be?He’s magnified His Word above all those revelations.
Those revelations were limited; they’re all wrapped up in the Word. If you know the Word of God, you’ll go beyond the man who knows God as Elshadai or Jehovah Rapha or any of the other revelations of Him in the Old Testament. John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the word was God.” This is the Word that’s been magnified above all the revelations of God’s names.
You don’t need all of the Hebrew names of God now; the last of the revealed names was Jehovah Shammah?the Lord is present; and after that, He brought forth “Emmanuel”?God with us?which was Jesus in the midst of His people. But His desire was to be in us: “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory”(Colossians 1:27).
Too many have lived in religion and haven’t received reality; they don’t know how to relate with God. Christianity is a living thing; a real relationship with a living heavenly Father and His Son Jesus through the person and power of the Holy Spirit. Get to know the Word and put it to work, and your life will be an unending stream of blessings and grace.
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the revelation of your Word to my spirit. Forever, your Word is settled in my heart and in my life. I walk in success, victory and triumph; my life is an unending stream of blessings and grace in Christ Jesus. Amen.
